Lead Technical Architect

If you are passionate about...
  • Defining and reviewing software architecture for products, frameworks and APIs for horizontally / vertically partitioned systems to ensure near linear scaleout and high availability and other NFRs (for both data and applications). These systems will be centered around the Customer Support Services Industry and will be delivered in a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) model.
  • Researching platforms / technologies / standards, creating POCs and selecting the right mix of platforms, technology and deployment topologies to ensure the above architectural goals / operational SLAs (ideally in a future proof manner) based on the business value (features) and technical tradeoffs governing NFRs.
  • Design and write / oversee the software specifications for the above to ensure that secure, componentized, loosely coupled and reusable artifacts / products are released.
  • Own the delivery, maintenance and operations of (some of) the software products and related artifacts.
  • Mentor and lead high performance teams of software engineers and leads.
  • Hands-on programming / pairing for more than 25% of the time in an agile / XP setup.
  • Collaborate with the services delivery team to define deployment / operational processes for maintaining SLAs related to the products
  • Be actively involved in sourcing / recruiting the right talent for the organization.

And you have...

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and have worked for over nine years in a fast paced environment, with at least three years in the role of an architect.
  • A thorough understanding of programming in multi threaded applications with two or more of C/C++, Java/J2EE, .Net, Ruby/ROR, Ajax/Javascript in a Linux / Windows environment.
  • Relevant experience on most of Networking, Async IO, Multi-threading, ReST and ORM (Hibernate), Spring, ESBs (ServiceMix / Mule), Swing, SWT
  • Expertise in OOPS, Refactoring, Design Patterns, Web applications and related frameworks, Web 2.0, RIA and Usability
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and RDBMS concepts (indexing / partitioning / performance tuning) in both OLTP and OLAP environments.
  • Have the penchant for hands-on programming / test driven development (TDD) / Creating POCs / Continuous Integration – ability to thrive in an XP environment.
  • Experience in architecture principles for vertically / horizontally partitioned, highly scalable, highly available, redundant, load balanced and secure systems (and understanding of tradeoffs involved in technology / platform / topology choices made)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and ability to visualize the problem / solution from different perspectives – ability to understand / manage tradeoffs
  • Experience in open-source platforms, frameworks and tools and passion for development using open-source technologies.
  • Process oriented with a bias towards automation.
  • Strong communication skills (written / verbal), interpersonal skills and excellent team player. Ability to negotiate and get a buy-in from stakeholders on technical matters even in the face of uncertainty / risk.
  • Ability to have / hold the shared vision of the product (and related business implications) jointly with the product owners and the business sponsors and be driven to translate this vision into a product that generates exceptional value for the organization.
Icing on the Cake If you:
  • Have experience in programming to APIs of telephony products
  • Have experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Have expertise on Dojo / JQuery / Maven / Lucene
  • Are conversant with the changing technical landscape / trends and ability to translate these into value for the organization
